Mark's Tracks

The 2nd Routed 3 laner, a bit more ambitious than the earlier one which is following at bottom of page.

Tinned copper braid, recessed flush with main surface. Acrylic paint topped off with an acrylic "flooring grade" [read 'bullet proof'] clear coat in semi-gloss.
Provides equal grip for silicon or urethane tyres. Rubber tyres offer less grip. Run as a "clean track" no rubbering up.

Bed size 4.55 x 2.10 metres; running length 18.5 metres (61.4 feet) per lane. Typical lap times in race mode, 5.5 seconds for a Slot.it or Ninco GT/Lemans car on silicons or urethane tyres, or 7 for a classic/historic car. Lap record, 5.196 by a Slot.it Nissan 390 GTR, with sidewinder pod, red bell 29K motor, and 12/36 gearing.
Track has been constructed with rear of legs cut in a radius, so that it can be "rolled" onto it's back and stored against garage wall. Legs fold away, for a closed profile of 350mm depth.
Using Ultimate Racer 3.0 for timing and race control. See site for details Ultimate Racer 3.0

Scenery, props, effects and track lighting under ongoing construction.

A short video of a few guys doing some laps on the track

Under-bench storage for about 70 "working cars" Power by 7 - 17 volt variable power supply, 25 amps.
Timing via Laptimer 2000 with Infra red emitters and sensors enables night racing as below.
Laptop to be updated, and timing operations switched to Ultimate Racer 3.0 to obtain benefits of rotational "tournament" racing, as well as car and driver database and records management.
Scenery still to be completed as at March 2008
The power supply has a secondary 5 amp, 12 volt DC output which powers the infra red sensors and track lighting on 2 independently switchable circuits, one for basic track lights, the other for scenic additions.

My first Routed track - a learning experience, August 2007
Getting close to finished, Starting on some basic scenery, which has to be limited due to the
portability of the two "modules"

The pitlane area at top will have a couple of portable buildings and other items which can be placed
and removed easily. The lower region will have a grandstand, car parking etc., also removable.

A few of my favourite classics lined up at the start
