A description of the classes follows
Homologation (what cars belong in each class), is under the "Homologation Of Classes" link

Racing Format:
Normally two classes to be run each meet. More only if time permits. If there are very few racers, a racer may run two cars per class and thus have two races per class. The more popular classes will be run more frequently with GT and LMP being the mainstays.

Technical rules
1. Must be hard body

2. Wheels must fit within original arches when looking from the side

3. Wheels must fit into original arches when looking from above except open wheeler cars. Max width of open wheelers is 65mm measured from outside edge of wheels/tyres.

4. Original wheels OR matching wheel inserts front and rear from the time period the car raced in. Photographic evidence may be requested!! Where a manufacturer makes wheels and wheel inserts the inserts must fit the wheels correctly. (e.g. Slot it, Ninco etc). In cases where they do not (e.g. Scalextric muscle cars) the wheels may be made into inserts to fit other wheel brands.

5. Sufficiently full interior so that no chassis or components can be seen through the windows, including a non transparent (3) dimensional driver , consisting of at least head/shoulders/arms and steering wheel, with at least (2) colours

6. All lights and windscreens must be fitted. Windscreens must remain clear if the car is supplied with clear screens.

7. Hard tyres. No foam tyres

8. Tyres may be cleaned with water, water with a few drops of detergent solution, fuelite or sticky tape only. This must be done by hand, not by doing "burnouts" on the track surface. No tyre goops allowed.

9. Bodies must be fully painted. "White kit" bodies with stickers and clear coat does not qualify as fully painted

10. Bodies must not allow the guide, chassis or any components to be seen when viewed from above, and chassis or any components from the side, front or rear.

11. Chassis must appear stock when viewed from the outside with the car upside down.

12. 0.5 mm ground clearance from chassis, gears or body at the start of the race. This will be very strictly enforced to avoid track damage. Cars not complying to this rule are not allowed onto the track under any circumstances! (Mini's, NASCAR, V8 Supercar must have 0.3mm clearance at start of race as they are less than 0.5mm as stock in some cases and only use plastic gears)

13. NASCAR, BMW Minis and V8 Supercars must be box stock except for tyres which must be rubber or urethane. Addition of lead ballast (and the fitment of a 10 tooth pinion on SCX NASCAR's) are allowed. Minis must be the models that come with interiors fitted. All these classes may of course be "blueprinted" ( i.e. wheel/tyre truing, bodies loosened, axles and bushings aligned, wheel spacers fitted, motors and bushings glued in place.) New lead wires may be fitted and those silly capacitors taken out. (This is stuff all beginners should master before attempting more sophisticated mods anyway) Apart from these modifications if it didn't come with the car it ain't allowed!

14. Podded chassis cars only allowable in Saloons, (except Slot-it or NSR brands), GT,LMP and Classic Sports Racing 1965-1980. A podded chassis is one that has a movable pod contained within it to allow body movement to improve grip or handling (e.g. Slot- it, NSR). Unpodded chassis may not be converted to include a pod.

15. JGTC cars - Ninco cars may have no better than NC5 motor and standard interiors fitted. Scalextric brand cars may have light weight interiors but must use the stock motor.

16. Classic Sports Pre 65 must use Ninco NC1 or NC8 motors. Must use stock plastic wheels.

17. Cars running magnets must have a large "M" written in black or red permanent marker or on the back windshield or behind the cockpit in open cockpit cars. This may be written on a sticker if desired to ease removal.

18. High magnetic downforce motors such as the MBSlot "DoDo", Avant Slot "blue can" etc will be considered magnet cars as per rule 17. Maximum motor downforce 30 gm as measured on magnet marshall.

19. Any car not complying with the technical rules (except rule 12) can still race but will not be allowed to qualify and be automatically relegated to the slowest semi of that class.

Race rules:
1. Each racer has 30 seconds to qualify the car they intend to use for the race.

2. The car used in qualifying must be the same car used in the race.

3. Fastest four qualifiers will form the first semi, the next four fastest the second semi and so on.

4. If the number of drivers means that a heat of one or two drivers would need to be formed then the slowest heat will comprise a round robin race comprising a semi of 5 or 6 drivers

5. In this instance as a driver finishes on yellow they must note their segment and replace their car back on that segment when they come back onto white lane.

6. Races to comprise 2 minute heats in each lane with 45 second lane change periods.

7. Power will be cut after two minutes and drivers will move their controller to the drivers' position to their right and their car moved to the appropriate lane in the same relative track position as where their car stopped. Thus white will move to red, red to black, black to yellow, yellow to white. Don't forget to change lane stickers too!

8. The 45 sec countdown will not be stopped except for track or timing system failures. Cars may be maintained in the 45 second countdown period. Marshals may assist with lane changes.

9. Power resumes after the 45 second countdown.

10. "Track" calls can only be made for a car on the floor, car in an unmarshallable area or track/timing system faults. Power will be cut for legitimate track calls only. Continued false track calls will result in a deduction of laps by the racer involved. (Note a simple deslot is best called as watch out on "……. Lane" rather than calling track as we do now. Takes a little practice but it is how it is done at national level)

11. Segments to be recorded at the end of each semi in the case of two or more cars finishing on the same number of laps.

12. A racer who completes more laps from a slower semi shall be deemed to be ahead of the driver with fewer laps from the faster semi.

13. In the event two semis are very close in terms of laps done, a final of the top four drivers may be run if time permits and there is a desire to do so.

14. A driver may enter more than one car per race if they qualify far enough apart to be in separate heats.

15. Likewise a single car may be cross entered by two drivers if they qualify far enough apart to be in separate heats.

Track Rules:
1. No smoking

2. No abuse of marshals or other drivers. Minor offences may result in laps being deducted. Serious offences will result in expulsion!

3. No licking of tires (It grosses me out!)

4. No burnouts

5. No mobile calls or texts while marshalling.
